N.H. Woman Charged With Driving 112 MPH With Unbuckled Children In Car

RAYMOND, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A New Hampshire mother was arrested for driving more than 100 miles per hour with her two unbuckled children inside the car, authorities announced.

New Hampshire State Police said at around 9:17 p.m. Friday night, a trooper spotted a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed on Route 101 westbound.

At one point, the SUV was observed going 112 MPH, state police said.

Officials said after the trooper stopped the vehicle, they found two children inside, ages 1 and 4. The children were not buckled or secured in any type of child restraints, according to state police.

The driver of the SUV was identified as 23-year-old Shirley Stanley of Manchester, New Hampshire. Stanley was arrested and charged with reckless operation, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of violating required child passenger restraints, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, unsafe lane change, following too closely, and speeding.

Stanley was released on bail and will appear in district court on June 10, said state police.
